I can’t find it now – but Nimrod Cooley was listed on some directories with wife, Sarah. I have a meeting to go to in a few minutes but will see if I can find it again.

I am now having troubles finding who Nimrod's wife is. The obit stated he was survived by his wife Sarah. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Penland who died on 13 Apr 1939 in Bucklin, Linn County, Missouri. I have checked Missouri marriages on Ancestry.com and couldn't come up with another marriage for Nimrod Cooley/Cooly.

There is a Sarah E Cooley, born 7 Mar 1873 and died 24 Apr 1952 buried in the same cemetery as Nimrod Cooley. Actually they are the only Cooleys buried there but are on separate tombstones. Sarah E Cooley's death certificate stated she was a widow, so probably is Nimrod's second wife. I will keep looking.

Bonnie, I did have troubles with the MO death certificates, because I use internet explorer as my entry to the internet. I had recently downloaded the new IE 8 and my troubles began. My son in law came and did some work on my computer to correct the problem. There is on the archives a statement of how to get the d.c. to open if you have IE8. Apparently adobe reader and IE8 are not compatible. At least that is my guess.

Good work, Sandra! Yes, I think you are right about the sisters. I'm thinking about ordering a search for the obit of Claude L Cooley. Are there any others that we need in California??
I'm having trouble getting to the actual MO death certificates. Are you having trouble with that? or is it just me?

Since I couldn't find any records of Nimrod having two sisters, I decided that maybe they were half-sisters. With this decision I checked my records for Mary Ellen Truett Cooley's marriage to Joseph King and their children.
They had some daughters that I decided to check the marriages of and found the following:
Sarah Margaret King married Joseph Cunningham on 18 Feb 1894 in Macon County, MO
Victoria P. King married Henry C. Wright on 2 Sep 1903 in Linn County, MO

I am very comfortable with them being half-sisters and not sisters.
