According to Fred Cohoon's worldconnect site, this is William and Sophia
(Havens) Cooley. Obviously, there are two families--or an extended
family--present.

For those who are new or have not been following the thread, a descendant
William Henry Cooley is a fairly close match to us (kit #239164 at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Cooley/default.aspx?section=yresults).
He's almost identical to the descendant of James Cooley of Jack county TX
(kit #102135). They are so close that I bet they were brothers: about 11
or 12 years apart, both born in PA, and both in Ohio by an early date. And
William did have two sons by that time, so this matches. But what of the
male 16-18? If accurately enumerated, he's too old to have been James.

Who knows how complete the 1810 census for PA is. I have the Cooleys
transcribed at
http://ancestraldata.com/ahnentafel/256/pennsylvaniacooleys.html. Other
than the Cooleys of Allegheny and Fayette counties, for whom a lot is
known (including the DNA), the only families that match a profile of a
male of about 2, and a male of about 13 are these:

Luzerne county, Rush Twp, Jacob Cooley, 31001-21001
Northumberland County, Derry Twp, A Cooley, 11001-21110

I know nothing of either of these families. I'm thinking, however, that
the father might have already moved the family to Ohio, for which there is
no 1810 census. That would explain the brick wall.

Is it pertinent to our Cooleys? The DNA, especially for James, is close
enough to suggest they were either from or collateral to our John. Solving
their mystery -might- get us closer to solving ours. But no matter how I
cut it, I just can't get any of our guys to PA. :(
