No, I don't think so. Mary Lewella Cooley appears to be the daughter of
Thomas and his second wife Martha Ann [Streepy, according to a tree on
ancestry].
Mary Lewella Cooley, b. 27 Oct. 1852, Udell, Appanoose Co., IA, m. 24
Dec 1884 William L. Powell. Someone has posted an obit for Mary L.
Powell on Ancestry.com.
Mariah Cooley who married James C. Hartley seems to be a child of Thomas
Cooley and his first wife Mary Evans. Using census records, I suspect
they had perhaps seven children and Lewis, whom you previously
identified, is likely the oldest as the 1860 census of Appanoose Co., IA
has him born ca. 1814, IN and his parents were married 16 Aug. 1813.
Given that the supposed daughter Mariah Cooley was married in 1847 in
Washington Co., IN, this is where one would first look for her father
Thomas. This fits perfectly with the fact that Thomas' father Edward
Cooley died in Washington Co., IN in 1822.
In 1820 Thomas Cooley was in Washington Co., IN with one male under 10
and two females under 10. He & his wife are 26-45
In 1830 Thomas Cooley was in Washington Co., IN with 2 males under 5, 1
m 15-20, 1 m 40-50, 1 f under 5, 1 f 5-10, 2 f 10-15. He & his wife are
40-50
In 1840 Thos Cooley was in Washington Co., IN with 1 male 10-15, 1 f
10-15, 1 f 15-20. He is 50-60 & his wife is 40-50
In 1850 Thomas Cooly is in Union Twp., Davis Co., IA. He is 63, b. NC, a
farmer, with $1180 in real estate. Martha Ann is 25, b. IA.
So if my hypothesis is correct, and we are not seeing a blended family,
you need to find two more sons and 3 more daughters. Using the census
records, I would guess that Lewis and Mariah are probably the oldest and
youngest of the siblings.
