Thanks Bonnie for the connection! This is so neat to have some new info and thanks Julie and Michael for your interest and help too. Cousins all!

Bonnie, it looks like you and Joel and Julie are connected through the Cooley line and the Reed line! Your mention of an Ira Cooley is interesting. On the 1900 census Margaret is listed with 2 living children (Joseph and P.Albert) but gave birth to 5 others...we had a hint of another son but no accurate info.

Repeating what's been said the 1891 marriage of PC and MA was registered in Kirksville, Macon Co., MO.

Looking forward to some Cooley~Reed time this afternoon!

Good hunting everybody,
Nancy Cooley

Tonight is the first that I've heard that anyone knew Margaret's parents.

I've never found Perrin C on the 1870 census either.

My suggestion is not that we find a record of the marriage; we've had that
for some time. My point is that the event might have been newsworthy and
that there might be an article with more info. For example, I have a
couple of 19th century articles--not just notices--about a 50th wedding
anniversaries.

BTW, I see there's a facebook page for the La Plata Home Press:
