Hi Rob,
I'm copying the list so that everyone can have benefit of our
correspondence. Welcome!
I think it is entirely likely that Edmond was John's son. The paper trail
is weak but it's highly suggestive. The match with the DNA and the
surname, of course, greatly increases the likelihood.
You may have already read that Luke Burnett and Edmond Cooley appear
together in an 1805 Spartanburg deed. Luke married John's daughter, Hannah
Cooley, in 1795 and appears on the 1800 census for Spartanburg.
That's where I've been looking--for a record that indicates a deeper
connection between Edmond and Luke. I've followed the Burnett trail to
Cobb County GA, but it goes cold there after 1850:

Feel free to share info with the list.
