Sorry to jump in so late. My wife and I were killing some time in a
spectacularly bland Irish pub here.

Goodness, Gloria, this is a HUGE find! How did you stumble across it?
I've searched high and low
for gold like this! I have to assume that this was only recently
scanned or released or surely one of us
would have bumped into it by now. This gives me much hope that more
clues are out there waiting!
It ties together so many previously untethered and unusual suspects.
But without a doubt it solidifies
the relationship between William Bearden who married Hannah Cooley and
is the presumed brother
of Martha Bearden Cooley, and possibly ties this branch (after long
last) to Perrin. I'm grasping at the
particulars of the lawsuit and assume that the folks named are next of
kin of James. It would be so
smoking to find the actual court documents, especially if they name
Martha, Elizabeth, Polly or Milo on the side of E.C.

It's also very interesting to note that the administrator for James,
William R. Von Schmittou, is E.C.'s wife's
uncle and brother of Obriant Lafayette Von Schmittou, who if I remember
correctly was the J.P. who
married them.

There are so many new questions and things to sort out but this is
really a major step forward for placing our Cooleys.
Thank you, Gloria! And thank you, Michael, for presenting the pieces of
the larger puzzle and trying to make sense of
it all !!!

Slainte,
Jim
