Sorry this took so long and is so convoluted. I have loads of information across e-mail and my tree and much of it is loose connections and guesses at how some of these folks are related.
Three of George White's sons were indentured to Websters after George's death. Nathan White and William White, were indentured to John Webster according to the book "A Mile with Me" by Mary Jo (White) Seversen. I also have this information from Shari Horton, another White researcher: "George W. was indentured to Elijah Webster at the end of Sept. 1824. Supposedly Elijah died in 1826. " - this would be a George Jr. Also, Elijah Webster was married to a Jane Rains.
George White's (1765 - 1824) 2nd wife was Jane Davison (a William Davison gave his permission for her to marry George in 1803). The Davison name has a very strong association with NC... but I have no idea which William Davison my Jane belongs to.
As far as the name "Matthews", there is the possibility that John Cooley was married to Sarah Matthews. I have a Frances Matthews ( born in KY 1784-1832) who was married to John Baptiste Lewis. John B Lewis had a son, James H. Lewis, who's daughter, Julia Colletta Lewis was married to my William M White. William M. White is the son of Eli While, son of George White from Casey Co. Eli White's wife was Nancy Jane Moore, she was the daughter of Henry Moore and Elizabeth Cooley (John Cooley and Sarah Willis' daughter).
Also from Shari Horton: "George had 500 acres on Rolling Forks watercourse (Forkland). The name entered as survey and patent was John Flourney. I believe this to be the same John Flourney who returned to Anson Co. NC and died there. "
Shari also mentioned in a post that ""These people seem to be traveling with Daniel Boone, and some went into Georgia with General Matthews." I haven't looked into General Matthews - has anyone else?
Hope this is (somewhat) useful :)
