Very interesting! I'm thinking that our Cooley ancestors came to the
British Isles from Scandinavia long before the Vikings. Remember that DNA
test I did several years ago that claimed that was the case based on our
Y-DNA STRs (instead of SNPs)? In any event, I agree that our Cooley Y-DNA
is very rare. Only the Whitfields share it. And note that both surnames are
most common in northeast England around Newcastle. -Don
