He must have been living separately. As far as I know, Edmond's marriage
date is unknown. Perhaps Rice had already begun to establish a home.

I believe that all the deeds for the Cooleys in Stokes county are known I
(perhaps not). Of what we've seen, neither Rice nor Edmond are listed. So
it's still a mystery.
