I have information on "Tempey" Cooley who md William Cunningham 4 Feb 1819
in Howard County, Mo. I had received letters from a Sarah Ann Roberts which
were written in 1937 that explained who Tempey is. She is actually
Theodocia Cooley, aka Docia, Dosh, etc. I have NO idea why she is listed as
Tempey on her marriage to William Cunningham. He died before 1829 and they
had one dau, Mary Ann, b abt 1821 in Howard County, MO.
Dosh, etc then md John Roberts on 4 Oct 1829 in Howard County, MO. They had
the following children:
Mary Ann Roberts b 11 Aug 1830 in MO and died 17 Oct 1899, Yolo County, CA.
She md John Maxwell on 11 Sep 1846 in Platte County, MO

Rebecca Roberts b 10 Dec 1832 MO, d 21 Jan 1908 in Garfield Co, Colorado.
She md Joel J Crook 28 Aug 1851 in Platte County, MO

Jemima Roberts b 20 Dec 1833 in Howard County, MO and died 27 Dec 1874 in
Leavenworth County, KS, md John Sparks on16 Sep 1852 in Mercer County, MO.
(she was named for my 3rd great grandmother, Jemima Cooley, who was a
sister to Theodocia, etc. (Their father was James Cooley, 1772-1821).

Ralph Roberts b 1 Feb 1837, MO, d 6 Mar 1899 in Woodland, Yolo, CA and md
Mary E Finch on 6 May 1855 in Buchanan County, MO

James T Roberts b 30 Aug 1839 MO, d 26 Feb 1885 in Sherman County, NE, md
Susanna Bales/Bayles on 1 Mar 1859 in Ray County, MO

Matilda Roberts b 16 May 1842 in Buchanan County, MO and d 1 May 1908 in
Buchanan County, MO. She md Thomas Jefferson Meers on 21 Apr 1858 in
Buchanan County, MO.

Tempey, Theodocia, Docia, etc is buried in Bethel Cemetery, Buchanan, MO.
Her gravestone lists her as Dosh A Roberts.

I have James Cooley (1772 - 1821) as the father of my Jemima and Theodbcia
and 9 or 10 other children.

I don't know if you have the following regarding the administration of
James Cooley but here it is:
 Estate of James Cooley
Feb 1824 , Search under "Cunningham"

To the Honorable David Todd Judge of the Circuit Court for the first
Judicial Circuit in the State of Missouri setting as a court of chancery at
the town of Fayette in the County of Howard and circuit aforesaid.

Your orator Pleasant Wilson of the County of Howard and State of
Missouri administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights
and credits of James Cooley deceased Humbly complaining sheweth unto your
Honor that sometime on or about the first day of October in the year
Eighteen hundred and twenty one in the County of Howard aforesaid, the
aforesaid James Cooley died intestate leaving a widow by the name of
Elizabeth Cooley and the following heirs and legal representatives (towit?)
Thomas White and his wife Jemima which said Jemima is daughter and heir of
said Deceased; William Cunningham and his wife Docia which said Docia is
the daughter and heir of said Deceased and the following sons and heirs all
minors (towit?) Demarquis D Cooley, Isaac N Cooley, James M Cooley, Timothy
G Cooley, John H Cooley, Cornelius Cooley, Benjamin R Cooley, Matthias M
Cooley, and William Cooley who are all prayed to be made parties to this
Bill of Complaint. Your petition further represents unto your Honor that
one the ninth day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty two he
obtained letters of administration on the Estate of said deceased from the
clerk of the County Court for the County of Howard aforesaid which are in
full force and virtue in law, not set aside or revoked and which to the
Court are here shewn and made a part of this Bill the date whereof is the
same day and year aforesaid. Your orator further represents that the
personal estate of said deceased was appraised to the sum of $625.43 3/4
cents out of which said personal property the widow of said deceased
received its appraised value the sum of $150 which left a balance of said
personal property at its appraised value of the sum of $475.43 3/4 cents.
Your petitioner further represents that the above personal property at its
appraised value was sold at public sale to the highest bidder as will
appear said sale bill for the sum of $30.30.00 cent. Your orator further
shews unto your Honor that the following demands in amount have been
allowed by the County Court for the County of Howard in favour of creditors
against your orator as administrator of the Estate of said deceased.

 List of creditors follows, including William Cunningham the sum of $13.50;
Total sum of $1047.41 owed to creditors. There follows several pages of
"complaint" as to a Robert Brown who "went bail" for James Cooley over a
quarter section of land a few miles southwest of Fayette. The possibility
appears to be that the settlement of the estate went on for some time. The
affidavit of Brown may be found in these papers and states that James
Cooley intended to go to North Carolina shortly before his death.
Information was produced for RRH by Lois Stanley, genalogist in St. Louis
in 1982.

You will note that Thomas K White, husband of Jemima Cooley (my 4th GG
parents) is often mentioned on Cooley legal documents and seemed to be a
"go to guy" for many legal matters.
