I've been going over Dennis Young's "Mildred Cooley Tallant Papers" again
and found this. It proves that Hamil knew about William Cooley and
Elizabeth Firmin. I think she "doubted it" because the acknowledgment
would have destroyed the whole merit of her manuscript (which, of course,
wholly lacks merit.)
--quote--
These were the Cooleys Mrs Hamil was searching for.
William Cooley - (of Irish extraction) was in Maryland at the time of Rev.
Elizabeth Firman married in Baltimore or Havre de Grasse.
[children and some grandchildren listed.]
Mrs. Hamil has letter written 1849 from John [Cooley] to Cooley cousins in
Ill. I am sure this is her line, altho she doubted it. A man at Uniontown
Pa sent this 'data' to me and I sent it on to Mrs Hamil.
--endquote--
I'll use the quote to round out the chapter on Hamil.
