FYI...

Mitochondrial DNA is inherited from our mothers. It's separate from the
chromosomes found in the nucleus of each of our cells. There are
several--up to hundreds of, depending on the kind of cell--mitochondria in
every cell, each mitochondrion being a DNA-clone of the other. They
provide the energy the cell's needs.

Our chromosomes are comprised of 3.2 billion nucleotides. Each
mitochondrion, however, has just short of 17,000 nucleotides. A full
sequence test provides a complete record of your mtDNA.

If I recall correctly, about a year ago a full mtDNA test was about $240
at familytreedna.com. It's now $199. But FTDNA is now offering a sale for
just $139.
