The other R1a Cooley group

Some of you may know that there are two Cooley families in the Cooley DNA
Project that are of Y-DNA haplogroup R1a (other than the WHC and James
Cooleys who are close matches to us). One of the members of CF04 has
tested L448. They don't have that marker. But the R1a admins have
predicted that they have Z284. That would mean the common paternal
ancestor for us and them would have lived in the neighborhood of 2400
years ago!

I've been working largely on three chapters: the chapter for William
Matthews Cooley, for the WHC and James Cooley "cluster," and Chapter
Three, which will talk in detail about the genetic evidence. I'm gearing
up right now, though, for six OLLI classes/seminars that I'll be teaching,
the first one in three weeks. I also gave a presentation for the history
conference at HSU last weekend. So, I need to set aside much of the work
on the book. But once I get going again, I'll should have those three
chapters done in pretty quick succession of one another.
